On April 13", 2005 I was working at 8) Lisa Street in Brampton, Ontario performing routine preseason maintenance on a 134A York Screw Chiller. I was exposed to 134A for an extended period of time in which I suffered an inhalation injury that left my heart and lungs damaged. Over the next four years, my health deteriorated until I lapsed into heart failure and nearly died in 2009.

Local 787 provided me with legal representation through R.C.R. Legal Services in Toronto to pursue my WSIB case. Mr. Bruce Zevallos handled my case. He used his expertise to extend to me the most professional and excellent services in order to get me to a successful conclusion in this matter. I recommend without hesitation that Local 787 use Mr. Bruce Zevallos to represent any of my Union brothers and sisters should they become injured on the job as I did. Over the past nine years, Mr. Zevallos has persevered through letters of denial, hearings, tribunals, legal wrangling, and research in order to navigate through the considerable paperwork and procedures required to win a case like mine with the WSIB. He was steadfast in his determination to see this through to the end. He often encouraged me to be confident and not give up.

I received a settlement check from the WSIB in September 2018. I also was awarded a monthly entitlement until age 65. This allows me to live more comfortably and help my 3) children through their own journey in life. On behalf of myself and my family, I want to most sincerely thank the executive of Local 787 for supporting me over the nine years it took to win my case. Without your support, I would have been forgotten and received nothing. The pride and dignity afforded me through local 787 cannot be understated. Joining Local 787 in 1994 was certainly one of the best decisions I made during my professional career.
